12 more days on Bali!

Days 9 & 10: Back to Ubud, Lazy Pools, and Unexpected Christmas Songs
Back in Ubud, we spent our ninth and tenth days swimming, eating, and preparing for the journey home. From spider encounters to Christmas songs in September, these quieter days were full of small surprises and everyday adventures.

Days 6–8: Lazy Days, Reflections, and Our Escape to Amed
Not every day in Bali is packed with temples and adventures—sometimes it’s about slowing down. Between lazy days in Amed, long talks about politics and pollution, and bumpy drives through pothole-filled roads, we discovered the flip side of paradise.

Day 5: Markets, Noisy Neighbors & A Balinese Cooking Class
Between loud hotel neighbors and Denise’s craving for real bread, Day 5 led us to Pepito Market and then into the mountains for a Balinese cooking class. Picking fresh vegetables, learning the secrets of curry paste, and sharing a meal with fellow travelers made it one of the most memorable evenings of the trip.

Day 4 – Rice Terraces, Temples, and a Culinary Low Point
Rain, rice terraces, and a temple by the sea — Day 4 in Bali was a mix of breathtaking views, noisy tour groups, culinary letdowns, and the chaos of island traffic. Between exploring the iconic Tanah Lot and laughing at overly sweet “iced tea,” we also caught a glimpse of Bali’s future: electric scooters rolling alongside thousands of motorbikes.

Day 3 in Ubud: A Rainy Pause
Day three in Bali didn’t go as planned. What was supposed to be a cultural evening turned into pancakes, books, rain showers, and a midnight encounter with a very determined cat. Sometimes the best travel memories aren’t the big adventures, but the small, unexpected moments in between.

Days 1 + 2 - Waking Up in Ubud: Temples, Coffee, and a Splash of Rain
Our Ubud adventure begins with quiet mornings, temple visits, and the unforgettable taste of Balinese coffee—all while learning to slow down and embrace island life.

Day 0? - Touchdown in Bali: Bumpy Flights, Customs Surprises, and a Fast & Furious Pickup
After nearly 24 hours of travel with barely an hour of sleep, we finally landed in Bali. From bumpy flights and surprise customs forms to a wild ride with a familiar driver, the journey was anything but boring. The zombie is officially back on the Island of the Gods!

Survival, Wanderlust, and a Heartbeat Away from Disaster
After months of recovery and settling into Leipzig, it’s finally time for a break. Bags are packed, cats are fed, and the car is ready — we’re heading back to Bali for some sun, culture, and adventure.
