Day 3 in Ubud: A Rainy Pause

Morning Sunshine (Before the Rain)

Day three in Bali can be described with just one word: rain.
Funny thing is, the morning actually started off sunny. We lingered in bed for a while before heading to breakfast.

I ordered pancakes with a fruit platter and fresh juice. The pineapple juice here deserves its own mention—soft, sweet, and nothing like the pineapples in Germany, which are often sour and leave that strange furry feeling on your tongue.

A Slow, Lazy Day

So what did we do with our day? Honestly… not much. We had planned to see a cultural night with a traditional fire dance show, but plans quickly turned into quiet comforts instead.

Denise curled up with her book, I caught up on this blog, and later we watched an episode of Tehran on Apple TV. Sometimes that’s exactly what travel days are about—just slowing down.

Lunch at Sage (and More Rain)

By lunchtime, the rain hadn’t started yet, so we took advantage and walked over to Sage, our new go-to spot. I had a juicy burger while Denise went for a jackfruit burrito. On the way back, we grabbed some snacks and—perfect timing—because the skies opened up just as we left. Back at the villa, we gave in to the rain and embraced another round of doing nothing.

Dinner? Room service. Early bedtime. No regrets.

Midnight Mischief

At around 4 a.m., we woke to a loud crash from the kitchen. A stray cat I’d spotted earlier had gone for the plates we’d left out. Somehow, it managed to knock down two heavy stacked plates in its attempt to steal leftovers. Impressive, really. We cleaned up the mess and went straight back to bed.
